How much could 1 million Spotify streams generate?

An illustrative spotify calculator pre-filled with 1,000,000 streams, with assumptions and rights explained.

Separate the recording from the composition

A million plays is a scale milestone, not proof that the beat producer owns a million plays' worth of recording royalties. A producer may have a master participation, a songwriting share, both, or neither. The calculation below models an entire revenue pool before contributor allocation. Use the signed agreement to allocate a pool; do not infer an individual's share from a production credit. Publishing royalties are a separate calculation and are not added to the recording scenario.

What the inputs mean

Spotify does not pay a universal fixed amount for each stream. Its royalty allocation is based on streamshare. This calculator uses the site's illustrative US$0.0025-US$0.0045 per-stream assumptions to show sensitivity, not an official Spotify tariff. The result is a hypothetical recording-revenue pool before a distributor fee, tax and contributor allocation; it is not a producer's earnings.

Use this as a sensitivity check

Change the count to compare scenarios. Do not use the midpoint as a forecast or evidence that a named person was paid. Actual statements, rights agreements and reporting periods take precedence. Dreamhause distribution has a separate annual charge and 9% recording/Content ID commission; its optional publishing service is not included in this calculation.

Estimate

USD 2,500.00 to USD 4,500.00

For 1,000,000 streams, using illustrative rates of USD 0.0025 to USD 0.0045 per streams.

This is an illustration of how rates scale, not a forecast and not what any individual producer earns. Actual payouts vary.
