100K YouTube views: revenue scenarios

An illustrative youtube calculator pre-filled with 100,000 views, with assumptions and rights explained.

An early catalogue benchmark

At this volume, a fixed annual subscription has a larger relative impact than it does at later milestones. Compare a complete year of release costs rather than treating a single month's activity as annual revenue. The same play count can produce different results if the listening territories, subscription mix or rights owned differ. This scenario is useful for budgeting a release, not for predicting whether a track will reach a particular audience.

What the inputs mean

This calculator models hypothetical US$1.00 and US$5.00 revenue-per-thousand-view scenarios. They are assumptions, not a measured average or a YouTube promise. YouTube defines RPM as creator revenue per thousand views, after YouTube's revenue share, and includes multiple revenue sources. Actual RPM varies. Shorts use a different monetisation system and are outside this long-form scenario. A video's channel revenue is not the same revenue stream as Content ID payments on a third party's upload.

Use this as a sensitivity check

Change the count to compare scenarios. Do not use the midpoint as a forecast or evidence that a named person was paid. Actual statements, rights agreements and reporting periods take precedence. Dreamhause distribution has a separate annual charge and 9% recording/Content ID commission; its optional publishing service is not included in this calculation.

Estimate

USD 100.00 to USD 500.00

For 100,000 views, using illustrative rates of USD 0.001 to USD 0.005 per views.

This is an illustration of how rates scale, not a forecast and not what any individual producer earns. Actual payouts vary.
